What is AUDS?

Aberdeen University Dance Society is one of the biggest and the most active societies under Aberdeen University Students' Association.

AUDS runs first term September-December and second term January-April. AUDS is student run with almost 50 volunteers in AUDS teaching over 30 dance classes each week, organising amazing events, workshops, socials and a competition team throughout the year!

How much does a membership cost?

Student Memberships

Full Year: £50

Semester: £30

Non-Student Memberships

Full Year: £60

Semester: £35

How do I purchase a membership?

Anyone can purchase an AUDS membership, whether they are a student or not. All you need to do is go to the AUSA website. Please know that you will need to register on the AUSA website before purchasing.


If you a student, select Student Membership and if you are not a student then select Non-Student Membership

Alternatively, you can also purchase your membership at the AUSA office in The Hub.

What is included in the Membership?

Once you have purchased your membership you can come to as many AUDS classes as you would like!

Can I pay separately for each class?

Unfortunately, we do not offer a pay-by-class system. A membership must be purchased in order to attend classes.

Can I try out a class before purchasing a membership?

The first two weeks of each semester are free and you are welcome to attend as many classes as you would like! 

Can I start coming to class once the semester has already started?

You are welcome to start coming to classes at any point in the semester once you have purchased your membership.


Please be aware that during second semester, many of our classes will be working on their pieces for the showcases. You will still be welcome to class but if you miss the deadline then you will not be able to participate in the showcase.

Where do I get the latest updates about my classes?

The best way to get information about the classes is to join the class's individual Facebook group.


Each tutor runs this and it is where they will post updates, essential information and possible class changes. The groups are private but once you ask to be part of the group you will be added.

I would like to contact AUDS to perform; who do I contact?

Our AUDS dancers perform in many events throughout the academic year.


We have many different styles: ballet, jazz, tap, salsa, bachata, street dance, hip hop, dance hall and highland dancing.

Where are classes held?

Usually, all of our classes are held on campus in either the King's Pavilion or in room 614 in the MacRobert building.

However, due to the current situation regarding COVID-19, all classes will be online for the foreseeable future.

Please look to our social medias for updates as the situation is ever-changing.


How do I get involved with the AUDS Competition Teams?

In September, the AUDS Competition Teams hold auditions for all their teams. 

However, due to the current situation regarding COVID-19, it is unclear whether dance competitions will be going ahead this year.
